The Handheld Signing Math & Science Dictionaries for Deaf
and Hard of Hearing Museum Visitors Research Project
This video clip shows a deaf child and her Big Sister from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program doing the "Seeing a Sound Wave" activity. They begin by looking at the Word List and identifying terms that are unfamiliar to the child. The deaf child identifies the term frequency as a term that she does not know. She looks up the term in the dictionary and watches the signed term and definition.
Dictionary Use: The child watches a signed term and definition to learn the sign and understand the meaning of an unfamilar term.
