The Handheld Signing Math & Science Dictionaries for Deaf
and Hard of Hearing Museum Visitors Research Project
This video clip shows a family that includes hearing parents and a hearing and a hard of hearing child at the "Slide" activity. Each family member uses the Word List to identify terms to locate in the dictionaries. The hearing father helps the hard of hearing child and tries to engage her in coversation about the signed information that she is seeing.
Dictionary Use: The family watches several signed terms and definitions to learn the signs and meanings of terms. The parent attempts to use the information to engage the deaf child in conversation about the terms.
