For the Signing Science Dictionary (SSD), TERC, in collaboration with Vcom3D, is using the SigningAvatar® accessibility software to develop an illustrated, interactive, 3D sign language dictionary of science terms and definitions. The SSD is being designed to support access to standards-based science content among elementary and middle-grade students who are deaf or hard of hearing and whose first language is sign. The SigningAvatar^® has also been incorporated into three units in the EnViSci Network series to make them more accessible to students who are deaf or hard of hearing and whose first language is sign. The EnViSci Network series and the three signed units are published by Charlesbridge Publishing.
